PROFILE OF THE FOUNDER/ DIRECTOR
Srinath Fernando, LL.M(UK), LLM(Colombo) is a Freelance columnist and a public affairs/public diplomacy consultant. He is the Principal Consultant of the Srinath Fernando Diplomacy, a public affairs consulting entity. Srinath Fernando Diplomacy currently publishes three Magazines viz The Anglo-American Lawyer (print version) , KC The King’s Counsel (Digital) , The American Senator (print version) . Mr. Fernando is also the Convener of the Constitutional Law Association of Sri Lanka . He has written extensively to Sri Lankan newspapers such as Daily Financial Times, The Morning Leader, The Sunday Standard – The Sunday Observer, The Sunday Leader, The Sunday Island, LMD Magazine and The Khaleej Times of UAE.
He is credited with two publications titled Political Diplomacy and Lobbying and Diplomatic Law- A critique of Diplomatic Immunity.He has once been a registered member of the American Association of Political Consultants. He has had wide exposure in international trade and global trading and commercial operations especially in aviation, shipping, oil and gas, marine and shipbuilding industries.

Mr. Fernando is the former General Manager of the European Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka at which he looked after the promotion of trade and investments between 28 European Union Countries and Sri Lanka. Having been in the marine field he was instrumental in forming an Advisory Committee on Marine/Shipbuilding and Offshore Construction at the Export Development Board of Sri Lanka composed of industry stake-holders in the marine/ shipbuilding industry .
He has had the privilege of being employed in the Sultanate of Oman, Republic of Yemen, State of Bahrain, State of Qatar and United Arab Emirates and has had the privilege of working with many oil and gas related companies at managerial level positions. His personal efforts include the proposal to establish a Strategic Petroleum Reserve for the Government of Japan in the Hambantota District as far back as 1993 long before the Chinese port investments were conceived. He is the Founding Member of the Advisory Committee on Marine/Shipbuilding and Offshore Industry at the Export Development Board of Sri Lanka. Heholds a Diploma in Journalism from University of Colombo, Diploma in Journalism from Aquinas University College and Diploma in Philosophy from University of London.
Mr. Fernando is also an Associate Member of the Sri Lanka Institute of Credit Management. He has a Post Graduate Diploma in Diplomacy and World Affairs from Bandaranaike International Diplomatic Training Institute which comes directly under the purview of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka.
He holds a Master of Laws-LLM (merit pass) in International Commercial Law from Cardiff Metropolitan University UK and LLM in Constitutional and Administrative Law and Human Rights Law from the Faculty of Law, University of Colombo.
He conducts lectures at the Bandaranaike Center for International Studies (BCIS), Bandaranaike International Diplomatic Training Institute-(BIDTI), Metropolitan College Dehiwela (affiliated to Girne American University). He has conducted guest lectures at the Sri Lanka Navy Headquarter, NSBM University and at the University of Moratuwa.
Having been a keen observer on global affairs, he could identify an omission by the Parliament of Australia when it conducted an inquiry into the Public Diplomacy of Australia. The Parliament of Australia had failed to call evidence from QANTAS Airways which is at the forefront of Public Diplomacy of Australia.
